Objective: 

This course will enable the students to –

  1. Impart the knowledge of Gemology & the usesof various laboratory equipment for gem identification.
  2. Acquire a thorough knowledge of all precious and semi-precious stones and the ways in which they are used in jewellery.

Study of Gem Material

 

The students will –

 

CO6: Interpret basic concepts of Gemology.

CO7: Appraise gemstones (natural gemstone, synthetic gemstone, manmade gemstone and assembled gemstone.)

CO8: Learn about different gemstone testing equipment and the use of this equipment for the purpose of gemstone identification.

CO9: Analyse different properties of gemstones which will be helpful in their identification.

CO10: Analyse different properties of gemstones which will be helpful in their identification.
